IN THIS EPISODE KRISTI AND SUNAIAN DISCUSS:

  1. Visibility in Leadership Matters: The phrase "You can't be what you can't see" underscores the need for visible role models in senior leadership roles, especially for women and underrepresented groups.

  1. Passion for Mentorship: Being a mentor and a visible role model is crucial for nurturing the next generation of leaders, emphasizing the importance of creating pathways and support systems.

  1. Resilience and Hard Work: Learning values such as grit and perseverance from one's family can be foundational in building a successful career, even when there aren't direct role models in high-level roles.

  2. Adaptability and Authenticity: While adapting to different environments may be necessary initially, it's important not to lose one's authenticity. True confidence comes from embracing one’s identity.

  3. Diversity Drives Greatness: Embracing diversity within organizations fosters creativity and innovation, which in turn can drive an organization toward greatness.

  4. Engage Customers at All Levels: Engagement with top customers, even at the executive level, helps build company culture and leads to happier employees and customers.

  5. Balance and Prioritization: Balancing professional responsibilities with personal life requires "ruthless prioritization" and support systems, particularly from one's manager and life partner.

  6. Career as a Journey: Viewing one’s career as a journey rather than a destination helps in appreciating personal experiences and relationships, rather than solely focusing on titles or positions.

  7. Be a Multiplier: Focus on amplifying the strengths of others and building community connections. Leadership is about helping others grow and succeed.

  8. Support Women in STEM: Encouraging STEM education for young girls and creating support systems within workplaces can help bridge the gap between graduating from prestigious institutions and reaching C-suite roles.
